Since 1998 the world's most colourful event has taken place every year in Austria. The "World Bodypainting Festival" is the biggest art event in the bodypainting theme and celebrates the 15th anniversary this year With the evanescent art on the body, photography is an essential part of the festival. More and more programs were added over the past years, so that we have developed a big program within the so called "World Bodypainting Photo Days". Aritsts from 40 nations worldwide come to this unique event and put body art into the mountain and lake scenery in Pörtschach at the lake Wörthersee.

Photo activities within the WBF Academy |
|

The WBF academy program and the side events on the evening are from Monday - Thursday. We have special workshops for photographers such as fashion photography or surreal, gothic and nude art workshops. These programs are limited to 10 - 12 participants with variouse fees. The content and prices are available in the "WBF Academy" section. Partners such as Adobe offer lectures such as 3D photography, digital retouching, workflow etc. These programs are offered for free for photo ticket holders or any participants in the WBF Academy. The main days in “Bodypaint City” |

Bodypaint City, the festival grounds, contains all the exhibitor tents, artist activities, stages and the photo areas. New at the WBF 2012 is the "speakers corner". An area that is filled with interesting lectures about photography, retouching, software but also bodypainting specific content. The schedule and content of lectures and key note speakers for the main days can be found in the program section. After the bodypainters finish their work, they proceed to the restricted areas, so called "Photo Award Area". This area consists of different backgrounds and requisites. Fantastic works for the photo contests can be created here. The tickets for photographers are strictly limited, early bookings are recommended. Photo ticket holders also get access in front of the stage. |

The photo contest at the festival also exists now since 15 years. At this contest, only photos from that specific festival year are allowed to attend. Everybody who has created some amazing shots can participate. Photo ticket holders can participate for free. Visitors, who do not want to buy a photo ticket, can also participate for a special fee. We award 2 different categories:
After the festival ends, the best photos of the event will be judged by a jury and awarded with prizes. There are cash prizes and photo equipment to win. All works will be shown the year later in the festival week. Some of the photos will be printed in the photo catalogue, which is sent for free to every participant. A new category is introduced for 2012.
We are awarding the "Bodypainting Art Photo of the Year". Everybody who is the creator of an image with the theme "Bodypainting" can take part in this contest. Participating in the festival is not nesseccary. The festival provides just a great surrounding for the ceremony of the best photo. |

Description of the categories: |

In this category photos are shown that are close to the original photo. Photos that have not been transformed too much with a photo editor are accepted. Of course corrections are allowed to be done, but the photo should keep its original meaning. A change of the background is not allowed.
In this category photos are changed in their originality. The digital art category has no boundaries but the bodypainting art or the festival should still be the main content.
This category contains all works with a bodypainting content that were ever done. Creators can send us their best photos without a referance to time or location.

Category “Photo Classic” will be awarded with *: 1st Place € 1.000 in cash + product prize Participants till the 10th place receive a participation certificate.
1st Place € 700 in cash + "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom" product prize Participants till the 10th place receive a participation certificate. * The category “Photo Classic” has around 3 times more entries than the “Digital Art” category so we give some extra prize money to that category. |

From artists and photographers we do get a lot of amazing bodypainting photos that are not related to the World Bodypainting Festival. In 2012 we have introduced a new contest to give the artform another plattform of publicity.
So all year we are looking for the "Bodypainting Art Photo of the Year".
The winner of the contest will be awarded the year after within the magical frame of the World Bodypainting Festivals. This category contains all works with a bodypainting content that were ever done. Creators can send us their best photos without a referance to time or location. Photo and work: Filippo Ioco
